“The Chop Chop”
To be perfectly honest, I've known The Ambassador (BKA “Duece”) for
several years now. We've been pretty good friends. We have done
shows, bible studies, and just hung out and talked general crap to
each other. I've always respected and appreciated his passion for
his unpopular message and his strength to continue pressing even
when his message, a lot of times, went against not only pop culture
but also “Church” culture. That job is hard when you are a
religious based musician that needs to cater to your fan base.
However, as much as I have liked The Ambassador as a person, I
could never really get into his music. I couldn't get into it
because music to me is about more than the message. It's about how
creative you are in bringing that message to an entertaining
format. If it was only about the message then we wouldn't need to
put a beat behind it, we could just talk. I have for the past 10
years been trying send this message to The Ambassador and his crew
and I thought that it was falling on deaf ears.
Then I heard “The Chop Chop”, the new CD from The Ambassador. It is
an understatement to say that I was totally blown away! This CD is
incredible! My first thought was “OMG! This is insane!” So
basically I was incredibly surprised and as a general rule of
thumb, nothing ever surprises me.
From production, lyrical content, song structure and the basic
ability to put together an album, this is one of the best CD's to
come from this niche genre. What I most like about it, is that its
different from anything that I've heard out of this particular
genre of music.
As expected the content of this record is on point. But, the
importance of his content seems more relevant now considering this
very hard time that most of Americans are currently going through.
It fits so perfectly with what the average everyday person needs to
hear in such a time as this.
The single “Gimme Dat!” is Fire! The type of hot that gives you the
funny face... like “oooooohhhhh!”
This CD definitely gets the big 4 stars. I was impressed and that's
very hard to do. (Ask anyone who knows me.)
I hope that The Ambassador and The Cross Movement Records keeps up
the trend of not only a good message but also good music. If you
haven't heard this CD type The Ambassador in your iTunes. He's
distributed by Sony/BMG so he should be that hard to find.
