Should gospel artist sing only gospel and main stream artist only sing mainstream?

This has been an age old discussion by many, and I want to see what you think. Should gospel artists only sing "gospel" and not collaborate with mainstream artist, and should mainstream artists stay away from singing any gospel music unless they are going to leave mainstream behind?

Thanks your comments Liz. I especially love the idea of a gospel artist providing answers to the "secular" kat's problem. I feel that since we live in a real world, the bible does have answers to all of our issues and having artists that sing for Christ would I feel be more effective in "the world" if they could write creative songs that address issues and a better way of dealing with them. I also don't have a problem with katz like David Banner, Kanye West, John Legend, Tina Marie, etc singing gospel songs or singing with gospel artists cuz not every artist is purposed for it contrary to popular belief. Plus who am I to say that they cannot? God's plan for all of us is greater than the individual and God's mind, essence, and purpose is greater than my opinion. He used as donkey, a Pharoah, a harlot, the Pharisees, Paul (who was killing Christians), a murderer, etc to get put His purpose in place - so I cannot judge anyone and how they "live" and how they see God. All I can do is bring my faith to the table and let God use me how He choses to and not how I want to be used. Keep flowing freely with your thoughts. They are a master piece. Respect.

Hard to say..If a gospel artist collabs with a secular artist i think the song should still uplift the Lord..but be honest with the lyrics..if you rap or sing about fornication and any other action or representation of a sinful nature, then you shouldn't be fake with what you speak on when pertaining to God..i would love to see a Gospel artist collaborate with a secular one about specific trials..Gospel preaching perseverance and trusting in God's plan, with scripture to back it up, while the secular one writes about how it's hard for that person to step out of their norm, or comfort zone..i guess to sum it up it all depends on the lyrics, what the artists are speakin on, keepin it real or are they just trying to sell records? Christians shouldn't keep their gospel restricted to Christians, in my belief..i believe they should dare to step into tha secular world, but only if their foundation in God and His Word is strong enough to withstand that journey..

i have a tendency to flow freely with my thoughts, i pray i made sense haha, but that's just my 2 cents.
